Since the commencement of our Mindfulness Club, we have been glowing with gratitude. Without our yoga mentor, Stephanie Joyce, we could not succeed. Thank you for guiding our practice, training young yogis, and introducing mindful practices into our hectic school-lives.

Welcome to our Mindful Magazine, I am an English teacher at our local high school, thus I am blending my passions of writing and mindfulness to facilitate a club created and led by students to promote community mindfulness.

We were fortunate to welcome Michelle Seaver into our classroom who led us through these mindful practices:

  1. Mindful breathing: fill the depths of your belly (the diaphragm)
  2. Mindful thinking: focus on the here and now
  3. Mindful eating: slowly, carefully, enjoying every aspect of our chosen food.

I challenge you to try these three steps over the course of this week. Can you slow down to focus on yourself exactly the way you are right now? It’s a beautiful challenge.
